Rocky Three....

David OrtizIt seems that drama always finds a Red Sox and Yankee series.  This time the two teams will battle it out for first place or second place maybe.  There is also a tad bit of tension between Jonathan Papelbon, and New York as well.

To make matters even better, the series starts out tonight with Josh Beckett and Joba Chamberlain.  The Red Sox will also welcome back Big Papi David Ortiz to the fold, so alot of subtexts going on.  As the case with this series, there is the no stop hype to go along with it.  Lets not overstate it, it's three games in July, plain and simple.  Tonights match-up is a great example of the hype, a match up of a guy thats 9-6 this year, and a rookie pitcher with a 2-3 record, although you would think this was Pedro vs Clemens if you listen to ESPN only.

Either way it should be a great weekend for baseball.  Two of the games are the marquee games of the week.  Tommorrows game is the Fox game of the week, and Sunday's game will be on Sunday night baseball on ESPN.  For the Sox it is a start to a nine game homestand that will include three against the Yanks, as well as the Angels and the A's.  It seems the Sox have had a brutal schedule all year, and this homestand is a great example of that.  Whatever the case, should be an interesting few days in the Hub to be sure.
