Lester-riffic.....
Well the Sox got a visit from the ghost of Red Sox past in the form of Jamie Moyer. Moyer was how I remembered him, and the Sox had his pitch count up early. Moyer got lucky on several occasions, and was able to pitch out of some jams, that helped keep the score in striking distance for the Phillies.
Now Jon Lester on the other hand was not at all like I remember him. Lester went seven innings last night, on only 99 pitches. Lester was overpowering at times last night, and had his no hit control. He walked only one Phillies batter, and struck out five, including Ryan Howard three times. Howard was the toast of Philly on monday, after hitting two homers and a triple, knowing the Phillies fans he more like the goat today. The bullpen pitched off of Jon Lester's lead, and the combination of Okajima and Papelbon was as nasty as they were at any point last season. Okajima and Papelbon faced seven batters last night, and the fanned five of them.
The Sox offense last night was Coco Crisp, so with that being said, it was a low scoring night. Coco Crisp hit is third homerun in the last four days, this time a two run blast, that gave the Sox the early and only lead they would need. Julio Luggo hit lead-off last night, and actually did an o.k. job, getting on base three times. J.D. Drew looks like he may slipping back into his old ways, leaving runners in scoring position, and have another O-fer night. Drew may be effected by the Phillies fans, who boo him lustily every time his name is mentioned on the P.A. . Either way it was a nice win over a good team on the road.

For Some reason, the Yanks were in the Bronx last night, hosting the Padres. Now the A.L. East is playing the N.L. Central, who has more than enough teams to match-up with the East for inter-league play. So why the hell are the Yankees playing one of the worst teams in the N.L. Every team in the A.L. East is playing the N.L. Central, except the Yankees. Same thing happened last year, when every team in the A.L. East played the N.L. West, the Yankees were playing the Pirates in the Bronx. Something stinks here, and it ain't Hank Steinbrenners breath....
