Smokin Ace......
I'm not sure what I am giddy about more, the fact that Josh Beckett picked up right where he left off, or that the Yankees have dropped thier sixth straight game to now fall 14.5 games back of the Red Sox. For tonight I'll take Beckett's dominance over a formiable opponent. Beckett was able to go seven strong innings, giving up only four hits and two earned runs, while striking out seven, and walking only one batter. At certain points tonight it looked like Beckett was on cruise control, dominating a team that had come in on a major roll, and had been one of the hottest hitting teams in the American League.
The beauty of the MLB ticket is flipping back and forth between Sox and Yankee games, especially when the Sox are winning, and the Yanks are losing. Tonight was especially sweet, because I got to witness the Jays stealing home against the great Yankee combo of Jorge Posada and Andy Pettie. The run proved crucial, as the Jays only won by a run 3-2, the win also ensures the Yankees will drop yet another series. At some point, the Yankees will make a race of the East, but that point ain't tonight ! So enjoy the lead Red Sox Nation !
I also would like to welcome Kevin Youklis to MLB Blogs, hopefully the extra typing will not effect his hot bat, as he leads the A.L. in multiple hit games.
