Good Luck.....

Mark Loretta  Congrats to Mark Loretta for finally getting signed by a major league team.  Loretta has a great glove and plays flashy leather, and oh by the way is a lifetime .300 hitter.  The Astros inked Loretta to a one year deal worth 2.5 million with another million or so in incentives.

I am not quite sure why the Sox did not find it neccesary to bring Loretta back for one more year while they groom Dustin Pedrioa.  He offered a very inexpensive solution, and a very viable option at second this year.  Oh well it is the Red Sox loss for sure.  Good luck Mark, we enjoyed your short stay in Beantown.

i agree, Jonathan

never understood why the Red Sox FO would get rid of players who've already proven themselves in a Boston uniform (like Damon)

last year, the four scariest hitters were Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell, and Loretta; the last two mentioned were an excellent compliment to the power-hitting of Ortiz-Ramirez

perhaps the FO was trying to scrimp on money so they could splurge on Dice-K, Lugo, and Drew?

I agree w/u its so hard to find players that can thrive in NYC or boston why would not keep them....sign joel peinero for 4 million but pass on loretta for 2 mill makes no sense at all...i always hate losing players i really liked

Jonathan,

Take heart in the fact that Mark will be in the NL Central and you won't have to face him unless both the Astros and Red Sox make it to the World Series! :-)

Also, it's great to have Mark back...lol...former Astros have this tendency to come back...
