Stained Pennant....
Though no Yankee fan will have the stones to admit it, the 2003 Yankees AL East crown and Pennant from that year will be forever stained and tarnished. It has now been reported that 8 out 10 people in the BALCO scandal tested positive for in 2003. Giambi admitted as much in a press conference in early 2005. I'm sure Yankee fans remember that press conference well, as they surely remember how long it took Giambi time adjust to life without juice.
Giambi was a force in the Yankee line-up in 2003, hitting 41 homeruns with 107 r.b.i.'s. Giambi as we all know had a helluva game in the 2003 ALCS , hitting two towering homeruns off Pedro Martinez. Those two runs for me, put in serious doubt the outcome of that game. Giambi of course only played in 80 games in 2004, missing most of the season with an illness that is usually linked to steroid users. His numbers were way off, and he ended up with only 12 homeruns. It really was no until late 2005 that Juicambi was able to adjust to life without steroids.
Baseball is a game where the truth wears no disguises, the numbers tell the tale. If there was punishment for this form of cheating in 2003, we would not be talking about a Yankee pennant. There would be Aaron"bleeping" Boone homerun, and there would be no choke job by the Yanks in the World Series against the Florida Marlins. Make no mistake Yankee fans, Jason Giambi was a cheater (and still may be) and all his numbers and stats are in question. That includes what he did on the field during that time period, and the results that were produced in direct effect.

*sniff*...*sniff*... I think I'm gonna cry...
Get OVER it, Red Sox fans! You guys got the best of us in 2004.
Why all the hate?

I can understand where you're coming from, but you're turning a blind eye.
It seems as if you think Giambi is the only guy on steroids in the league..
So many guys were on steroids, it wouldnt surprise me if alot of red sox guys were...
David Ortiz, for instance?
Steroids were a part of the game, Pitchers have an advantage over hitters no matter what, the best hitters still only hit the ball and get on base 30% of the time..
So all i'm saying is, i think you should put the past behind you, yankees fans dont care about that trial, they dont care about steroids.
They care about winning, steroids or not.
They care about winning.

I'm sure Yankee fans don't care c that they recieved a tainted trip to the fall classic...baseball is the most difficult sport to reach the championship in, so the Sox were deprived a chance to compete in a world series due to a cheater on the yankees...which the yankees benefited from greatly...

So Giambi's 37 Hr's were tainted this year as well right? As was the whooping that the Yanks put on the Sox during the massacre as well? I'm sure the sting of 2003 makes it hard for you to understand that a lot of players were on roids, probably some from your team as well, but in Red Sox Loony Land only non Red Sox players can be accused. Have fun fighting for 3rd place next year!!

Attacking Giambi's homeruns as the reason the Sox didn't make it to the Series deflects blame from another source of failure for the Sox that year. What about Pedro? Perhaps his pitches were mistakes that any MLB hitter would have hit out, steroids or not. As far as his stats being "in question," That's old news. EVERYBODY'S stats are in question these days. To think that no one on the Sox used/uses something illegal is naive.

Just another thought...I'm tired of Red Sox nation taking the moral highground all of the time. The Yankees are the big bully team that spends too much money. I'm sure that the Indians felt like they were beaten by a small market club when the Sox gave Manny 20 million per year. The Yankees are the "Evil Empire" when they outbid everyone for Contreras. What about blowing EVERYONE away for Matsuzaka? And the Yankees have steroid users on their roster but not the Sox.
I'm not apologizing for anything that Giambi did; it was wrong. The one thing I'll say in his favor is that he at least made some attempt to admit it rather than claiming it was an "accident". Perhaps this makes him the least smelly fish in the bunch, but he's been more honest about his dishonesty than the rest.
However, for the Red Sox and their fans to continually point fingers at the Yankees ability to spend money or the potential "cheaters" on their roster as the reason that cannot compete on a yearly basis is a bit much. The Red Sox outspend nearly everyone else and may have had, or still have, just as many potential "cheaters" on their roster too.

Not much of a defense from Yankee fans...the guys was and most likely is still a CHEATER...it was a one run game...he had two homeruns..pedro was not on roids maybe if he was giambi does get those tow homeruns, but the bottom line is...giambi was the difference for the yanks in 03 and was a cheater on steroids

Puh-leeeze... the Red Sox had every opportunity to win that series, just like the Yankees. If my memory serves me right, wasn't Giambi batting 6th or 7th in the order because he was slumping? Even WITH steroids, a player has to hit the ball, it just doesn't magically disappear beyond the fence.
What do you guys eat up there in Boston anyway, SOUR GRAPES?

What do we have to defend?? You're blaming the sox losing a seven game series on 2 at bats. Giambi hit .233 in that series and three home runs. Two of them in the Pedro game and another off of Pedro in Game 7. Are you going to tell me that the only home runs he hit were steroid aided and it had NOTHING to do with Pedro at all. Giambi had 6 hits in the series, half of his hits were off Pedro, and all 3 hits against him were homeruns. Are steroids that selective that they can choose who to tag for a home run while going 0-3 against other pitchers. You would think that Pedro and Jason "The Heart and Soul" Varitek would have made some adjustments by game 7. The Red Sox lost, face it and move on. This isn't basketball where one player (aside from a pitcher) can take over a game. The Sox lost the series because GRADY LITTLE left Pedro in long enough to give up 5 runs and blow a pivotal game 7. If Little takes him out and the sox don't blow it, then are we talking about Giambi's home runs now?
I'll repeat what I said earlier; You can't defend what Giambi or any of the others did. It was wrong-plain and simple. But if you think that the ONLY reasons he hit those home runs were steroids and THAT'S the ONLY reason the sox blew a series in which they had a 4-1 lead in the seventh inning of game 7 then you are living in a fantasy world.
